Pharmaceutical Logistics Association of South Africa.

THE ESSENTIAL LINK IN HEALTH CARE DELIVERY.

Distributors

Act as manufacturers’ agents, as such, Distributors earn a negotiated ‘distribution fee’. As agents Distributors never own their principals’ products.

Wholesalers

Are independent businesses who purchase stock and take legal title, thereby owning the products they sell.

Logistics Service Providers

Is the generic description of any middleman business that distributes pharmaceutical products on behalf of manufacturers, to healthcare end providers or sellers, for a negotiated Logistics Fee.

“Physical work in the production of a commodity is more easily understood than the invisible enhancement of value through moving goods through time and space, which is the function of the middleman.” – Dr. Thomas Sowell

Channels of the distribution exist to move products from the manufacturer to the consumer.
